From the Society's book to your own Florilegium
A commonplace book is an old habit of serious readers: a private notebook of lines worth keeping, copied out by hand with their sources. The Society keeps one in common, and every line in it was offered by a member.
Each of those lines also lives in its giver's Florilegium, the Word Hoard's room for gathering passages (the name means "a gathering of flowers"). Inscribe a line here and it lands in your own Florilegium too: one passage, seen from two rooms. Withdraw it and it goes home, private again, and nothing is lost. Your Florilegium also keeps the lines you never share, each with its work and author.
